COVID Shutdown Guide

Information on the resources and services available to MCU students, faculty & staff during the COVID shutdown.

Library Services

 
Circulation of print books, journals, and A/V materials
  • MCU Students, faculty and staff with a demonstrated need can now place holds on physical materials via the library catalog. You must be logged into your account to do so.
  • The Holds feature is for academic library resources only. We are sorry but holds cannot be placed on Base Library materials unless there is a demonstrated need (telework, academic research).
  • Library staff will pick holds every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the COVID shutdown. A staff member will contact you on the pick day to arrange for pickup of your hold request.
  • Please email the Reference Group inbox if you have a demonstrated need to access/borrow any other print or A/V materials during the shutdown.  
 
Research Support
  • Please continue to email the Reference Group inbox for research support.
  • Students, faculty, and staff can also contact their respective school’s direct support librarian via email. 
  • The Reference Group inbox will be monitored from 0800-1600 seven days/week during the COVID shutdown.
 
Copyright Requests
 
Interlibrary Loan
  • Please email your electronic article requests to Interlibrary Loan.
  • NOTE: Many other libraries have also closed or reduced operations due to COVID. Fulfillment of your request will be contingent on partner library operating status, staffing, and loan policies.

 

Renewals and Overdues
  • Please continue to renew your items online. If you cannot it means there is a block on your account. please contact the Circ Desk Group.
  • Please contact the Circ Desk Group inbox with questions or issues with your renewals or overdues.
 
Account Management and Troubleshooting Support for Databases, Library Catalog, Website
  • Please contact the Virtual Group inbox for assistance. 
  • The Virtual Group inbox will be monitored from 0800-1800 seven days/week during the COVID shutdown.

  • NOTE: The Library Circ desks do not have voicemail capability and no calls are being forwarded.
  • NOTE: Teleworking staff are available via email (you can call their desks, but they won't answer...)
  • NOTE: Not all staff are eligible to telework. For a faster response, please use the Reference Group or Virtual Group email addresses.
