Battle Studies, Country Studies, & Staff Rides

“Read over and over again the campaigns of Alexander, Hannibal, Caesar, Gustavus, Turenne, Eugene and Frederic…This is the only way to become a great general and master the secrets of the art of war…”
– Napoleon Bonaparte

The purpose of this guide is to provide access to research tools for Marine Corps University (MCU) students, faculty, and staff to prepare warfighters for the complex operations operations of the future through the study of battles and campaigns of the past. This guide is a cumulative effort to provide researchers with a foundational starting point for battle studies, staff rides, and country studies by MCU schools.
