HA/DR Research Guide

This research guide is a cooperative effort between the U.S. Naval War College and the Marine Corps Research Library and is intended to provide easy access to research tools for scholars and practitioners working on issues involving civilian-military coordination in Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response (HA/DR) operations. This research guide seeks to improve the research capabilities for Marine Corps University (MCU) faculty, staff, students, USMC, sister services, U.S. Government agencies, and international partners to prepare for complex emergencies and natural disasters.

2018 Civilian-Military Humanitarian Response Workshop Report

On 19-17 August 2018, over one hundred participants – including humanitarian practitioners, academics, and military leaders – gathered at Brown University to explore current and future challenges to humanitarian civil-military coordination in crises, including natural disasters, complex emergencies, and routine military security cooperation activities. This document is a summary of the outputs from these workshops.
