What Makes Marines Leaders?
The history of Marine Corps leadership, our values and heritage has been continuously written since the Continental Congress first raised two battalions of Marines on 10 November 1775. Since that time, our core beliefs of leadership have been influenced by some of our most notable leaders such as General John A. Lejeune, as well as our sister services in the U.S. Armed Forces, and subsequently influenced other fighting organizations. The result is today’s modern day Marine Corps – a highly unique organization with roots in Naval history and amphibious warfare – a Corps that takes pride in being the finest fighting force the world as ever known.
