An account of the operations in California written by Jacob Zeilin, Commandant of the Marine Corps from 1864-1876. In his five-page report Zeilin describes landing at Monterey on 15 July 1846 and subsequent actions at Santa Barbara, San Pedro, and Los Angeles.
