Collection consists of 4 boxes (2.0 linear feet) of official records. Documents include operation orders, Operation plans, action reports, field orders, official correspondence and memoranda on the islands of New Guinea, New Britain, and Cape Gloucester.
The bulk of the documents were produced by the 1st Marine Division, the Seventh Amphibious Force, and the Sixth Army action during Operation Cartwheel and Operation Backhander.
